Founded in 1920 at Howard University, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated has a legacy spanning more than a century of empowering communities and advancing positive change. Guided by its founding principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood, the Sorority continues to inspire generations of women to be community-conscious and action-oriented in their service to others.

The legacy of Zeta Phi Beta took root in Gwinnett County, Georgia, on March 24, 2002, with the chartering of the Sigma Omicron Zeta Chapter. As the first Zeta chapter chartered in Atlanta’s northeastern suburbs, Sigma Omicron Zeta established a local presence dedicated to serving and uplifting the Gwinnett County community. Today, the Chapter continues that commitment through educational initiatives, youth programs, advocacy, community partnerships, and service.

 

At the heart of this work is a strong commitment to Scholarship and Service. Sigma Omicron Zeta recognizes the power of education to create opportunity and the importance of service in strengthening the community. In partnership with Pearls of Excellence Foundation, the Chapter helps bring these principles to life through initiatives that expand opportunities, address community needs, and support the well-being and advancement of those we serve.

 

Together, Sigma Omicron Zeta and Pearls for Progress work to create opportunities that empower individuals and families and strengthen the Gwinnett County community. Through this partnership, the Sorority’s enduring principles are transformed from ideals into action—continuing a legacy of service that began in 1920 while addressing the evolving needs of the community today.
